Opt out of Whitepages yourself

  1. Start from the privacy page Whitepages lists in its data broker registration: www.whitepages.com/privacy or www.whitepages.com/privacy/consumer-rights.
  2. Follow what Whitepages told the Oregon data broker registry about opting out:
Visit https://www.whitepages.com/suppression-requests and complete the short form to request removal of data. Whitepages is a public directory of publicly available information.
    Link given there: www.whitepages.com/suppression-requests
  3. Follow what Whitepages told the Vermont data broker registry about opting out:
A consumer may request an opt-out via a self-service Web page (https://www.whitepages.com/suppression_requests) or by sending an email to support@whitepages.com.
    Link given there: www.whitepages.com/suppression_requests
  4. Or email a deletion request to legal@whitepages.com. This is the privacy address GhostVault sends its demands to.
  5. Keep a copy of what you sent and the date. Search for your name on whitepages.com again in a few weeks to check the listing is gone.

What you cannot opt out of: Whitepages told the Vermont registry: "A consumer may not opt out of usage and location data if they use the website, and may not opt out of certain personal information when buying a product or service from Whitepages, so that Whitepages may process the consumer's credit card, and for fraud prevention."

Whitepages told the Vermont registry that it accepts opt-outs from an authorized agent, so someone else can file for you.

Figures appear only with at least 5 delivered demands from 5 different customers.

What GhostVault does for Whitepages

  • Sends Whitepages a written deletion demand under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as your authorized agent.
  • Reads every reply and tells you when Whitepages asks for something only you can give.
  • Counts a removal only when Whitepages states the deletion in writing. A sent or delivered demand is never shown as removed.
